Restrict payments from a specific area with a custom checkbox question
Zeffy cannot block payments from a specific area. What you can do is add a required custom checkbox question to your form, such as "I confirm I am a resident of X". Buyers must check the box to complete their purchase, so the question discourages payments from outside your area, but it does not stop them entirely.
What the checkbox does and does not do
The question appears during checkout, before the buyer pays, and a required checkbox must be selected before the purchase can be completed. Zeffy does not verify the buyer's answer against their actual location, and a buyer who checks the box can still pay even if they are outside your area. Use it as a deterrent, not as enforcement.
Zeffy already collects the buyer's state or province and country by default at checkout. These default fields appear on the payment record but do not prevent or reject a payment from outside your area.
Add the checkbox to a donation form or peer-to-peer campaign
In your Zeffy account, click "Campaigns" in the menu bar.
Click "Edit" next to the name of the form, or begin creating a new campaign.
In the form editor, go to the "Questions" section, which asks "Do you want to collect more info from your donors?".
Click "+Add question".
Select "Checkbox" as the response format.
In the "Question" field, enter your wording, for example: "I confirm I am a resident of X" (replace X with your own area).
Turn on the "Required" toggle so the question must be answered before the payment can be completed.
Click "Add question" to save it.
Add the checkbox to events, raffles, and online stores
In your Zeffy dashboard, go to "Campaigns" in the menu bar.
Click "Edit" next to the name of the form.
Click "Questions" in the left-hand navigation pane.
Click "+ Add buyer question". A buyer question is asked once per purchase, no matter how many tickets or items the buyer purchases, so it is the right choice for a residency confirmation.
Select "create from scratch", then choose "Checkbox" as the question type.
Enter your wording, for example: "I confirm I am a resident of X" (replace X with your own area).
Make the question required so the buyer must confirm before completing the purchase.
Do not use "+ Add Guest question" for this: a guest question repeats for every ticket in the order, so a three-ticket purchase would answer the same residency question three times.

Review the answers
To check a specific payment, go to the "Payments" tab and click the transaction (not the contact name). The payment details open with the buyer's answers listed on it. To review all answers at once, export your payment data and choose an itemized payments export. For details, see View and download a report with answers to custom questions.
