How to add product variants (sizes, colors) and manage inventory
When selling products with different options like sizes or colors, you can use the variants feature to let supporters choose their preferred option while automatically tracking inventory for each variant.
Add variants to your items
When setting up or editing an item in your online store, you'll see a Variants & inventory section below the item description.
In your campaign form editor, go to the Items step.
Add your item with a title, price, description, and image.
In the Variants & inventory section, click + Add a variant.
Select the variant type (such as Size or Color), or choose to customize your own variant name.
Add the options for that variant (e.g., Small, Medium, Large for sizes; or Red, Blue, Green for colors).
Repeat to add additional variant types if needed (you can have both size and color variants for the same item).
Click Save when finished.
Manage inventory for each variant
After adding variants, you can set the available quantity for each option:
In the Variants & inventory section, click Manage inventory.
For each variant option (e.g., each size or color), enter the quantity available in stock.
The inventory will automatically decrease as supporters purchase items with those variants.
You can return to Manage inventory at any time to adjust quantities or restock items.
How variants appear to supporters
When supporters view your online store, they'll see dropdown menus or selection options for each variant type. They can select their preferred size, color, or other option before adding the item to their cart. The available quantity for each option will be visible to supporters when stock is running low.
Variants are specific to each item. If you have different products with different variant options (e.g., one item with sizes and another with colors), each item has its own variant settings.
Tips for using variants
Use variants for inventory tracking: If you need to track how many of each size or color you have in stock, use the variants feature rather than adding custom questions.
Questions are for information only: If you need to ask supporters for additional information (like engraving text or gift wrapping preferences), use the Questions section of your form. Questions are for collecting information and should not be used for inventory management.
Combine sizes and colors: You can add multiple variant types to the same item. Supporters will be able to select one option from each variant type (e.g., a Medium Blue shirt).
