Log a complimentary payment or free order
To log a complimentary payment, add a manual payment and select "Free" as the payment method. The payment value is automatically set to zero, so no amount is recorded for the order.
This workflow applies to manually adding event tickets, raffle tickets, memberships, and online-store orders. It is also the workflow used when you cancel a buyer's tickets without refunding their payment and re-issue them a replacement (see below).
Add a free entry from Payments
Log into your Zeffy dashboard on a computer.
Click Payments in the left-hand side menu bar.
At the top, right-hand side of the page, click Add payment.
Select the form the free order belongs to.
Select the payment rate you want to add manually.
In the payment method dropdown, select Free as the payment method. This will ensure the payment is counted as a 0$ payment in your campaign total : no amount will be recorded for this order.
Enter the buyer's contact information. Search for an existing contact by name or email address, or create a new contact record if they are not already in your list.
Check Send email to contact if you want the buyer to automatically receive their confirmation email with the tickets. This option only shows if you have added a valid email address for the buyer.
Click Save.
Use the "Free" payment method when you want to give someone a complimentary ticket without any payment.
To log a payment that was actually received in cash, by check, or another offline method, follow the steps in Manual payment or registration entries to log cash, check or other offline payments.
Re-issuing a ticket without refunding the original payment
When you cancel a buyer's tickets without refunding their payment and manually issue a replacement, select "Free" as the payment method on the new manual entry so the amount already paid is not logged twice. The full steps are in Change a ticket type, order, or event date for a buyer.
This same process can be repeated for items bought in your online store, raffle tickets, or memberships. If you are changing a membership this way, also stop the automatic renewal of the initial membership if applicable.
Delete a free entry
If you make a mistake, you can delete a manual entry from Payments: click on the entry to open its details, click more in the top right-hand corner, and select delete. Deleting the entry also cancels any e-tickets associated with it.
