How to update or change your 2FA phone number
If you need to update the phone number used for two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account, the steps depend on whether you still have access to your current phone number.
If you still have access to your current phone number
This is the simplest and fastest way to update your 2FA number. You can update it yourself:
Log in to your Zeffy account.
Click your name in the bottom-left corner and select Settings.
Go to Two-factor authentication.
Click Edit next to the current phone number.
Have your new phone handy β you'll need it to receive the verification code for your new number.
If you no longer have access to your current phone number
If you're locked out because the 2FA codes are going to a phone number you no longer control, our support team will help you recover access. We'll verify your identity and update the number so you can get back in quickly.
For security reasons, Zeffy cannot disable 2FA entirely. We can only update the number it's associated with after verifying your identity.
How the identity verification process works
When you contact support about a phone number update, our team will:
Send you a secure link (via Stripe) to complete ID verification β this link is time-sensitive and can only be completed in one sitting, so only open it when you're ready.
The ID verification will have to be completed by the legal representative listed on your Stripe account
Once verified, we'll update your 2FA details for you so you can regain access.
The verification link will expire if you close the page before finishing. If that happens, contact us again and we'll send a new one.
