A single cumulative tax receipt is sent to monthly donors before January 31st of the new year.
If you have automatic tax receipt generation enabled on your donation form, your monthly donors will receive a single cumulative tax receipt before January 31st of the following year.
The tax receipt will be for the total amount of their monthly donations for the year. E.g. If they donate $100 every month, they will receive a tax receipt for $1200. If they have made additional one-time donations throughout the year, those amounts will not be included on the cumulative tax receipt, as they will have received a tax receipt for those transactions automatically.
The cumulative tax receipt will be dated December 31st of the previous year.
Before January 31st of the following year, Zeffy sends an email to all donors who have had tax receipts issued to them through the platform. This communication includes tax receipts they have already received and cumulative tax receipts which they will be receiving for the first time. ⚠️ If you do not have automatic tax receipt generation enabled on your form, Zeffy will not generate a cumulative tax receipt for monthly donors.
If your organization is eligible to generate tax receipts, automatic generation should be turned on by default on your form (read more about automatic tax receipt generation).
If you enabled automatic tax receipt generation after a donor began their monthly donation, only the amount of donations received after automatic tax receipt generation was turned on will be included on the receipt.
How to cancel or edit a cumulative tax receipt for a monthly donor
If there was an error during the generation of your donor's monthly tax receipt, you can correct it by cancelling the tax receipt once it has been generated and issuing a new one.

How to generate a tax receipt for a monthly donor manually
If you did not have automatic tax receipt generation active on your donation form, but you would like to generate a receipt for your monthly donors, you can manually issue tax receipts from their contact page. The total amount should correspond to the sum of all monthly donations received between January 1 and December 31st of the previous year. The date on the receipt can be the date of the last donation, or December 31st.
