Migrating to Zeffy: A Step-by-Step Guide

Moving your organization's data to a new platform can seem daunting, but Zeffy makes the transition process straightforward. Here's how to successfully migrate your organization to Zeffy.

  1. Create your free Zeffy account and attend a demo session (or watch the recording) to ensure Zeffy meets your organization's needs.
  2. Preparing your data: Export your existing data from your current platform including donor/contact information and payment history 
  3. Format your data using Zeffy's import templates:
    1. Use the Payment Import Template for transaction history
    2. Use the Contact Import template for contact information
    3. Refer to this guide to import members and monthly donors
Note: When you import payments, contact records are automatically created for each donor, so there's no need to do a separate contact import. 

Important Considerations

  • Email Addresses: Emails are the primary identifier in Zeffy. Ensure email addresses are consistent to avoid duplicate records.
  • Required Fields: Some fields are mandatory for imports. Follow the template requirements exactly. 
  • Template Formatting: Do not modify column titles or add/remove columns from the import templates.
