Importing members and monthly donors with recurring payments

You can import contact information and giving history for your current members and monthly donors.

It is not possible to transfer an active payment directly into Zeffy to have it renew automatically. You must stop their recurring membership or gift and invite them to start it again in Zeffy.

If you have existing members and monthly donors with active recurring payments in another software and you want to transfer them to continue renewing in Zeffy, follow these steps: 

  1. Fill out Zeffy's Payment import template - click here to view the import template and instructions. You must use the template we provide to complete the import. 
    All contacts included on a Payment import template will also be added into Zeffy, so you do not need to complete a contact import.
    1. When you complete a payment import template, a form will be created in your Zeffy account. In the "Form name" column, use the same form name to group up your monthly donors or members. This will allow you to filter them in Zeffy later. 
    2. If you want to be able to reach out to people before their membership or monthly donation renewal date, add the date of the recurring payment in the "Date" payment column. You will be able to filter payments by date later, so you can follow up with them before their renewal is due. 
  2. Once they have been uploaded into the platform, you can email them to share your membership or monthly donation form with them to invite them to renew their payment on a Zeffy form.
