How to update names of my event guests after their purchase

E-tickets cannot be edited directly, but we have a few workarounds to issue new tickets with updated information, and update your guest list!

How can I edit the e-ticket to change the guest's name/information or their answers to my custom questions?

Zeffy's E-tickets are PDF documents that are automatically generated using the information provided during purchase. Once generated, these PDF documents cannot be modified directly.
 
Therefore, if your guest would like to transfer their ticket to someone else, or otherwise update the name/information displayed on the e-ticket you will have to issue an entirely new ticket for them.

Where can I update my attendee's names if they have changed after the purchase is complete?

If you have opted to collect all guests names on your event form you can manually update your attendee names after the purchase. This only applies if you have set up your form to collect each guest's name.

💡 When a buyer purchases multiple tickets, you can easily ask for the first and/or last names of each attendee. This will allow you to generate an accurate guest-list ahead of your event. While it is possible to update attendee names after the purchase, this won’t update the e-ticket itself, it will only reflect in your Zeffy dashboard and exports.

 To do so you can either:

Edit the custom question answer in their order directly:

  1. To edit the answer, go to Fundraising > Payments > search for their payment and click on it (do not click the contact name as this will take you to their contact page, click anywhere else on the payment line to open the details) > when the payment drawer opens, you will see that you are able to edit the answers recorded in their order.

    The change you made will be saved automatically and will be reflected in the payment export you obtain from Zeffy, as well as on your guest list and check in manager.

  2. Note that changing the order in this way will not change the answer recorded on the e-ticket.

The process essentially involves cancelling the tickets they have without issuing a refund and issuing new tickets manually with a discount code applied to have the payment recorded once and new e-tickets issued.
