Enabling cash/offline bids on your auction form

Allow your bidders to submit cash or offline bids without having to submit their payment information

In the regular operation of Zeffy's auction system, any bidder who places a bid is required to enter their payment information. If they win the auction at closing time, their payment method is automatically charged.

If you prefer to allow bidders to participate without entering their payment information, you can enable cash or offline bids. In this scenario:

  • Bidders can submit their bids without providing payment information.
  • If they win an item, they will not be automatically charged.
  • Winners must complete their payment outside of the Zeffy platform.

By enabling cash/offline bids, you provide more flexibility to your bidders and accommodate those who prefer not to use online payment methods.

To enable cash bids:

  • Log in to your Zeffy's dashboard. From there, go to the "Forms" section and hover over the form you want to edit.
  • The edit button will be all the way to the right of the form in grey – click on it to access the editor.
  • Once in your form editor, go to the advanced settings of your auction:
  • There, you'll be able to enable offline bids and payments. You'll also be able to customize how this offline payment method is named on your form.

If a bidder submits multiple bids with different payment methods, the payment method used will be the one associated with the winning bid. For instance, if a bidder first uses a credit card and later submits a higher bid selecting the offline payment method, the winning payment will be be associated with an offline payment method and the credit card from the first bid will not be charged.
