Why am I asked to provide personal information to verify my account?

Our custom connection with Stripe requires additional verification measures to keep our platform secure.

To accept payments on Zeffy, you must provide personal information such as your SSN or a photo of your government issued identification document as well as a selfie to compare with your ID document. This information is required because Zeffy uses Stripe Custom Connect, which holds Zeffy responsable for all activity on the platform. As such, we need to ensure every account that is created is owned by a legitimate person and organisation. 

Providing your SSN does not have any ramifications. It is solely used to verify your identity. The SSN is required by Stripe, our payment processor, for all accounts.

Your information and photos are stored in Stripe's database. Stripe is a global leader in payment processing and respects the highest industry standards of payment and data security. For more information about Stripe, please refer to our page: What is Stripe?

The information submitted for the organisation representative can be changed or removed at any time. If you are not comfortable providing this information, another person within your organisation can also submit their information as the representative.
