Our custom connection with Stripe requires additional verification measures to keep our platform secure.
To accept payments on Zeffy, you must complete an identity verification process. This process requires you to provide personal information, including:
- The last four digits of your Social Security Number (US accounts only)
- A photo of your government-issued ID
- A selfie for comparison with the ID
This verification can be done by any legal representative, such as a board member, authorized signatory on your bank account, or treasurer.
Why We Need Your Information
This information is necessary because Zeffy uses Stripe Custom Connect, which holds Zeffy responsible for all activity on the platform. We need to ensure that every account is owned by a legitimate person and organization.
-
Government-Issued ID: Zeffy needs to verify the front and back of your ID and take an image of the person completing the verification. This ensures that every account is owned by a legitimate person and organization and that person whose ID is uploaded is also the person opening the account
-
Social Security Number (SSN): The SSN requirement is imposed by Stripe for all US users (not just Zeffy users). Providing your SSN does not have any ramifications; it is solely used to verify your identity
Data Security
Your information and photos are stored in Stripe's database. Stripe is a global leader in payment processing and adheres to the highest industry standards for payment and data security. For more information about Stripe, please refer to our page: What is Stripe?
Changing Your Organization's Representative
The information submitted for the organization representative can be changed or removed at any time. If you are not comfortable providing this information, another person within your organization can also submit their information as the representative.
