How do I set my 'Doing Business As' name?

Steps to add a second name to your Zeffy account that is different than your legal organization name

If you need to associate a different name with your Zeffy account, such as for a chapter of a larger organization, you can set a "Doing Business As" (DBA) name in Zeffy. Here’s how you can configure your DBA name:

Steps to Set Your 'Doing Business As' Name:

  1. Log in to your Zeffy account.
  2. Click on your name in the left-hand menu and select Settings.
  3. Under Bank, click on Bank Identity > Update My Bank Info
  4. In the Business Details section, click Edit on the right side.
    • The Legal Business Name field must match your organization's official name associated with your 501(c)3 or charity.
    • The Business Name field is optional. This is where you can add your DBA name, such as a chapter name (e.g., “DeLorean Foundation - Montreal Chapter”).
  5. Save your information.

⚠️ If your bank account is different from your legal business name, please ensure the DBA name you enter here is an exact match with the name associated with your bank account to avoid any discrepancies.

Changing the name that appears on your Zeffy forms:

  • If you would like to change the name that appears on your Zeffy form you would have to click on your name in the top left corner > click on "Settings" > under "Organization" click on "Organization information" and change the name of your organization.
  • ‼️ Please note: Once you change your organization name, this will trigger a new Stripe verification in the backend with your new organization name. To resolve this go back to your account settings > click on "Bank identity" under "Bank" > change your "Legal business name" back to the name of your registered nonprofit.

Important note:

  • If you’re managing multiple non-profit accounts (e.g., for different chapters), you can create additional Zeffy accounts and manage them under the same email by using the Switch Profile option.
    • Click on your name in the top left-corner > click on Switch profile > click on + Create a new organization
