Can I cancel/delete a bid?

While it is not possible to cancel or delete a bid on an auction form, there is a workaround to ensure the bidder is not charged.

In Zeffy’s auction feature, all bids are final. Currently, there is no direct way to cancel or delete a bid once it’s placed. However, we understand that mistakes can happen, and you may need a way to remove a bid from an auction.

Workaround to "Cancel" a Bid

If you need to effectively cancel a bid, follow these steps to ensure the bidder is not charged:

1. Manually enter a higher bid: Place a higher bid manually to override the original bid and prevent the original bidder from winning the item.

   1. 1️⃣ First, enable offline payments on your auction form. In your form editor, go to the "Advanced settings" > under "Additional form options," select "Enable offline payments."
      
   2. 2️⃣ Then, place a slightly higher bid on the item by filling out your auction form and selecting the cash payment option.
      To open your form, go to "forms" and click the three little dots to the right of the form name. Select "View form." 
      
      The form will open in a new tab and you can enter the bid amount on the item you want to cancel the bid for. When you place your bid, select "Cash" as your payment method. 
      

2. Delete the item from the auction: Once the higher bid is placed, you can safely delete the item from the auction so that you can add it back at the previous highest bid amount.

3. Re-add the item with the original starting bid: After deleting the bid, re-add the item with the original starting bid to ensure that your supporters can still bid on the item!
